Slam Transport Honors Local Hero with the ‘Agnes Bell’ Truck

In a heartwarming gesture that showcases the spirit of community, Slam Transport, a Coventry-based haulage company founded in 2015, has named one of its trucks after 98-year-old local hero, Agnes Bell. This initiative is part of the company’s effort to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the community.

Slam Transport invited local organizations to nominate community heroes, leading to Agnes receiving this special honor. Known for her cheerful personality and positive attitude, Agnes is a beloved figure at Harper Fields Care Home in Balsall Common, where she serves as an ambassador for various events.

Last week, Slam Transport surprised Agnes with the unveiling of the ‘Agnes Bell’ truck right in front of her care home. The home prepared a delightful celebration with champagne and refreshments, capturing Agnes’ genuine surprise and joy upon seeing the truck.

In a touching moment, the Slam Transport team presented the truck to Agnes, saying, “So this is the Agnes Bell. We’ve heard you do marvelous things.” Overwhelmed by the honor, Agnes responded, “Honestly? You’re kidding me!”

Hayley Wilkinson, general manager at Harper Fields, expressed gratitude towards Slam Transport for making this moment possible. “Agnes was overjoyed and loved the idea. We linked with her family virtually, allowing them to share in the excitement,” she said. “Agnes is a joy to be around; she keeps us all young and happy!”

The ‘Agnes Bell’ truck will now be seen on the roads across Coventry and Warwickshire, serving as a reminder of the incredible spirit and contributions of local heroes.
